Transforming Coffee Grounds into Soap: Empowering Women Producers in Mardin

Known for delivering a premium coffee experience with carefully selected beans from farms across the globe, Espressolab also stands out with its commitment to social responsibility projects. One such initiative focuses on environmental sustainability and the economic empowerment of women.

At the Leap Natural Soap Workshop in Mardin, established by the RET Foundation’s social enterprise brand Leap Natural, 30 women participants produce handmade soaps using natural raw materials. Espressolab supports this workshop by contributing to both the socio-economic development of women and the promotion of recycling practices. Coffee grounds and coffee sacks collected as waste from Espressolab stores are repurposed by these women into handcrafted soaps.

Now Available on Espressolab Shelves

These unique soaps, produced from recycled coffee grounds, were first introduced on March 8th, International Women’s Day, under the slogan #KadınÜrettikçe (As Women Produce) at the Tünel and Taşkışla locations. They will soon be available at Espressolab stores across Turkey, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Morocco.
